Plaque Summary from the Ontario Heritage Trust's website

Born in Guelph, McCrae was educated at the University of Toronto medical school. He served in the Canadian Medical Corps during the First World War and is best remembered as the author of In Flanders Fields. He died in 1918 and is buried at Wimereux Cemetery.
